Lane Discipline Key To Traffic Decongestion

- Haphazard turns on high lanes can result in accidents
- The chance of accidents is sure to increase during busy hours on the road
- It is necessary to maintain disciple for safe driving on long lane roads
The motorists tend to take advantage of the small space available in between two big or small vehicles. It is mainly to drive fast in the minimum space available in quick time. But this is not the right way to drive on highway lanes amidst traffic
The tendency is mainly seen to squeeze in between small spaces left, and it increases as soon as the traffic light is green. To curb such tendencies and the chance of a problem, it is better that riders should have suitable knowledge of the traffic decongestion rules.

What direction related lane discipline can help?
The lane discipline is important to get to understand the necessity of smooth riding and going with traffic flow. It can reduce the chance of accidents on the road and help smooth the traffic during busy hours. It also helps maintain safety on roads and it is both about the direction and maintaining the right speed with vehicles on the road.
When busy, the motorists are often seen going over to the footpaths in order to be quick and overtake the traffic as quickly as possible. The city roads usually have two to three lanes running parallel. Motorists trying to take the right turn should be on the right lane and indicate the vehicle behind before taking the turn. It would help the other vehicle control the speed and direction carefully when driving on a three-lane road.
The vehicle that wishes to head straight should remain in the middle lane, and those trying to take the left turn should drive on the left lane. With this arrangement, it would help to maintain smooth traffic without resulting in congestion problems. However, buses should go on the left lane of the road as the stops are on the left side of the road. If a bus needs to take a right turn, it should indicate almost 100 meters of taking the turn s it would help the vehicles behind it.

How should one check the speed in lane discipline?
This discipline is important for vehicles when riding on roads with big intersections, mainly multiple highways.
- The slow-moving ones such as trucks, autorickshaws and other two-wheelers must be on the left lane. It would reduce the chance of any chaos with the fast-moving vehicle on the road.
- By this, it should allow fast-moving vehicles such as cars and jeeps to remain on the right lane.
- Change of lane is only allowed when a vehicle has to overtake, and the slow-moving one should come back to the left lane after overtaking on highways
- Trucks are mainly seen driving on the left lane, letting other vehicles overtake them from left
- When parallel vehicles are going side by side, it ends up slowing the traffic
How do two-wheelers in the city have much knowledge of traffic?
It is important to have suitable road discipline. It is mostly seen in Bengaluru city that two-wheeler vehicles don't have much knowledge on how-to drive-in highway lanes and maintain safety. Some of them don't even spare the footpath space and tend to take the footpath when they are in a hurry. They have little knowledge that they are impacting the whole traffic and impacting it, resulting in the chance of accidents.

Importance of enforcing the discipline task
Enforcing the discipline task is one of the challenges for the police team and getting control of the traffic in the crowded city. It is important to create awareness about road traffic and the decongestion method as it would help in the smooth flow of the traffic. For this, it is important to include discipline tests about lanes at the time of issuing insurance and renewing it.
As part of lane discipline, it is important to check that the CCTV cameras are installed correctly, and insulators are channelled properly for its correct use and maintain the right flow of traffic on highways. All this will help avoid the congestion problem on-road and help easy traffic flow.
