Honda To Suspend Production of the Mobilio
Highlights
The Mobilio MPV kept clocking good numbers and touched the 3500 sales mark in just a couple of months. However, there has been a gradual decline in the numbers and that's thanks to the competition. While in 2016 only 441 units were sold in January, the numbers further reduced to just 226 units in February.

The Mobilio has faced tough competition from the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Renault Lodgy and even the Toyota Innova and that is one reason to which we can attribute this downfall. Honda will suspend production of the Mobilio for the time being, but this does not mean that the car will go out of production. You will still be able to buy one from the dealership. The numbers, as we've told you earlier, have been low for the past few months and the current stock will be pushed for the next three months.

The reason for suspending production is similar to what we saw earlier - making way for a new car; and this time it is the BR-V. Now, the BR-V made its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo and the company had made it clear that we'll see the car in the first half this year. The BR-V shares the platform of the Mobilio and hence this decision comes as no surprise. The Mobilio might be phased out completely if it doesn't get the numbers up but the company is leaving that decision for later and it will have a definitive answer by the end of this year.
