While ridesharing app Uber is struggling to keep going in the face of the threats posed to its successful existence across the globe, there's a company that now allows you to book a helicopter flight in under an hour. Gotham Air allows customers to avail aircraft charter and shared aircraft charter services via their app or website.

The company, together with Helicopter Flight Services - a luxury aviation service provider - will initially fly from Manhattan to the JFK and Newark Liberty airports, which will cut the travel time from 2-hours to 6 minutes. Holy Batman! The best part? It costs about as much as any luxury black car service in New York.

Though it costs $219 per person, the company, which started operations on February 9, 2015, is offering a limited-period introductory price of only $99. The service operates between 8am and 8pm, and needs at least four seats to be sold on a flight for it to be confirmed. Also, the company doesn't provide pick-up; folks have to reach the helipad in Manhattan.

That's not all though. Gotham Air promises to get you to your destination even in bad weather; a fleet of Teslas and other luxury cars will ferry people to the airport incase the weather leaves its choppers grounded. Its ground fleet provides pick up/ drop off service across most parts of Manhattan.
