Former President and Managing Director of Ford India, Anurag Mehrotra, has now joined Tata Motors as Vice President - International Business and Strategy of its Commercial Vehicle Business Unit (CVBU). Anurag, who recently stepped down from his leadership position at Ford India, takes up the new role at Tata Motors effective from October 1, 2021. The information was shared with Tata Motors employees as part of an internal communication, and Mehrotra's is expected to report to Executive Director & Head, CVBU, at Tata Motors.

Prior to joining Tata Motors, Anurag Mehrotra spent over a decade at Ford India, holding multiple leadership positions in marketing, sales and services, before resigning as the President and Managing Director, a position he held since February 2021. At Ford, Anurag was replaced by Balasundaram Radhakrishnan, the company's Director of Manufacturing.

Anurag Mehrotra's decision to join Tata Motors follows Ford India announcement regarding its decision to cease vehicle manufacturing in India. Earlier in September 2021, Ford announced that it will stop selling locally made cars in India and will shut down both its car plants in Chennai and Sanand. After spending over 2 decades in the Indian market, Ford saw that it was no longer profitable for the company to make cars in India. The carmaker has said that it plans to only sell its global products, like the Mustang, in India as CBU (Completely Built Unit) models.

Mehrotra holds an Electronics Engineer Degree from Mumbai University, and he did his Post Graduation in Marketing Management from Times School of Marketing. Prior to joining Ford India, he has been part of companies like - WNS Global Services, Accenture and Genesis Public Relations.
