The soon-to-be-launched Tata Nexon SUV has been officially rolled out of the company's Ranjangaon plant today. Slated to be launched around the festive season, the Tata Nexon is the carmaker's first sub-4 metre SUV and will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport. Earlier this month, Tata Motors officially announced the technical specifications of the upcoming Nexon, which will feature a set of new petrol and diesel powertrains.

The petrol powered Tata Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron motor, while the diesel version comes with an all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder oil burner that has joined the Revotorq family. The petrol unit is, in fact, a turbocharged version of the one found on the Tiago and Tigor, and is tuned to belt out 108 bhp at 5000 rpm and 170 Nm of peak torque between 2000-4000 rpm. Whereas, the new 1.5-litre diesel motor makes 108 bhp at 3750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque between 1500-2750 rpm. Initially, the car will comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

The Tata Nexon is the fourth model from the home-grown carmaker to be built on Tata's IMPACT design philosophy after the Tiago, Tigor and the Hexa SUV, all of which have been widely praised for their design and styling. Furthermore, Tata has previously mentioned that the company has incorporated some of the design principles of the Range Rover Evoque in the making of the Nexon SUV.

The carmaker will soon start dispatching the Tata Nexon to its dealerships across the country in a phased manner. This means, ahead of the SUV's launch, customers will get a chance to have an up close look at the Nexon, although pre-bookings might take a while to start. In fact, we will soon be driving the car so watch this space for our first drive review.
