Formula E has announced the provisional calendar for 2020-21 that was approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council last week. While the current season is set to resume in August with back-to-back races in Berlin, Germany, the next season of the electric motorsport series will be held only through 2021. The championship would normally begin in November, culminating in July the next year. The 2020-21 Formula campaign will now see its first race on January 16, with the Santiago e-Prix becoming the opening round of the championship. It also gains the FIA World Championship status for the seventh season.

China's industry ministry said on Monday it might temporarily ease quotas designed to boost production of electric cars, in an attempt to help automakers in the world's biggest market revive sales badly bruised by the coronavirus pandemic.

China re-classified petrol-electric hybrid vehicles on Monday so they get more favourable treatment than all-petrol or diesel counterparts under new clean car rules, making it easier for automakers to meet environment quotas and offer more choice.

After launching the new GLS flagship SUV, Mercedes-Benz India is now eyeing to launch its first electric car - EQC EV in the country. The Stuttgart-based carmaker is expected to launch the EV in the next couple of weeks. Initially revealed in Sweden in 2018, the highly awaited Mercedes-Benz EQC was expected to be launched in India towards the end of the last year. But, the EV was not launched in India last year. Nevertheless, the carmaker is all set to launch its first luxury electric SUV in India soon.

Ford has shared that the Mustang Mach-E owners will get 250 kWh of complimentary recharging which is enough to give five full electric charges depending on the battery it is equipped with.

Spanish car maker SEAT has entered the electric two-wheeler market by introducing the SEAT MO urban mobility brand, and a new electric scooter which is said to have the performance of a 125 cc motorcycle.
