- Type-approval documents indicate the top-spec SP variant
- Ducati Monster SP likely to be introduced in September 2022
- Same engine, different suspension & electronics expected
Ducati is planning to add a top-spec model to the Ducati Monster family in 2023. News about the Ducati Monster SP have emerged from type approval filings made in Australia recently, that add the “Monster SP” name to the existing Monster and Monster+ models in the range. The SP variant is not expected to get major changes in terms of performance, and will be built around the same engine and frame, but will likely get updated suspension and technology.

The current Ducati Monster is priced at Rs. 12.49 lakh (Ex-showroom) in India.
The engine is likely to be the same 937 cc, L-twin which makes 109 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 93 Nm at 6,500 rpm. We could see higher-spec Ohlins suspension (with 48 mm USD and a monoshock also from Ohlins) with adjustability on the SP variant, along with lighter forged wheels, and carbon fibre bits to lose some weight and add that desirability quotient to the Monster SP. Also expected are new colour schemes to differentiate the Monster SP from the standard models. The weight of the SP will also likely be less than the 166 kg dry weight of the stock Ducati Monster.
At this point of time, what remains is when the Monster SP will be introduced. Ducati has a series of digital unveils planned over the next few months, and earliest date is September 15, which is when the new Ducati Monster SP is expected to be unveiled. Once the production model is introduced, the Ducati Monster SP is likely to be introduced in India as well, but expect a slight premium over the current Monster, which is priced at Rs. 12.49 lakh (Ex-showroom).
