Ride sharing firm, Ola, has committed a sum of Rs. 500 crores over the next year towards various initiatives globally, to enhance safety in mobility in its fight against COVID-19. Ola has resumed operations across the country and is now available in more than 200 cities with enhanced safety protocols. Ola will aim to drive various safety initiatives which include highest levels of driver standards, a host of technology advancements including a newly designed COVID-ready app, hygiene and safety benchmark for vehicles and an industry-wide collective mission in its fight against COVID.

Luxury carmaker Bentley is cutting about 1,000 jobs in the United Kingdom amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the BBC reported late on Thursday.

Yamaha Motor India has donated Rs. 25 lakh to the Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund to the government of Uttar Pradesh. The donation was made to the UP government for the fight against COVID-19 and the senior Yamaha management handed over the cheque to the District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The amount is part of the total donations of Rs. 61.5 lakh that was collected from Yamaha employees last month. Out of the total amount, the Yamaha management donated Rs. 25 lakh to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund in UP and Tamil Nadu respectively. The remaining amount of Rs. 11.5 lakh has been donated to the PM Care Fund.

The Union Government had directed private entities to pay full salaries to workers during the Coronavirus lockdown.

India's Petrol and diesel demand is expected to return to pre-lockdown levels in July, an executive at the country's second largest fuel retailer Bharat Petroleum Corp said on Thursday. "The current demand for petrol and diesel is at 70% of levels seen before the lockdown," Vijayagopal N, director of finance at BPCL, said in a call with analysts on Thursday.

TVS Motor Company has silently increased the price of its 110 cc commuter motorcycle - TVS Sport. It was just in April 2020 that the Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer launched the BS6 compliant version of TVS Sport in India, in under two months, the company has hiked the prices of both the kick-start and self-start variant of the bike by Rs. 750.

Japan's factory output slid faster-than-expected and retail sales tumbled the most in more than two decades in April, as the coronavirus pandemic wrecked both foreign and domestic demand for the country's autos and other manufactured goods.

It has been a few months since Hyundai launched its online retail platform, 'Click To Buy' in India. The company has integrated over 600 dealerships from across the country on this online platform, and in the last two months alone, Hyundai has bagged over 15,000 registrations through the website.
