China's vehicle sales are estimated to rise 11.7% on year in May, its top auto industry body said on Tuesday, cementing hopes of a recovery in the world's biggest auto market with the first back to back monthly sales increase in about two years. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), in a post on its official WeChat account, said vehicle sales were estimated to rise to 2.14 million in May. It said the numbers were based on sales data it had collected from key companies, without giving further details.

Ride sharing firm, Ola, has committed a sum of Rs. 500 crores over the next year towards various initiatives globally, to enhance safety in mobility in its fight against COVID-19. Ola has resumed operations across the country and is now available in more than 200 cities with enhanced safety protocols. Ola will aim to drive various safety initiatives which include highest levels of driver standards, a host of technology advancements including a newly designed COVID-ready app, hygiene and safety benchmark for vehicles and an industry-wide collective mission in its fight against COVID.

Yamaha Motor India has donated Rs. 25 lakh to the Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund to the government of Uttar Pradesh. The donation was made to the UP government for the fight against COVID-19 and the senior Yamaha management handed over the cheque to the District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The amount is part of the total donations of Rs. 61.5 lakh that was collected from Yamaha employees last month. Out of the total amount, the Yamaha management donated Rs. 25 lakh to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund in UP and Tamil Nadu respectively. The remaining amount of Rs. 11.5 lakh has been donated to the PM Care Fund.

India's Petrol and diesel demand is expected to return to pre-lockdown levels in July, an executive at the country's second largest fuel retailer Bharat Petroleum Corp said on Thursday. "The current demand for petrol and diesel is at 70% of levels seen before the lockdown," Vijayagopal N, director of finance at BPCL, said in a call with analysts on Thursday.
