Bird Poop On Car - What You Can Do About It?

Of all the things that you don't want spoiling your car, bird poop tops the list. While you cannot escape the tragedy of bird curd landing on your precious vehicle, you can remove it immediately to minimize the damage. Here are a few methods you can use to remove the stain and make your car clean and shiny.

Wet bird poop - sponge or cloth
If the bird poop is wet you can immediately wipe it with a sponge or a microfibre cloth that will be gentle on your car's paint. Then, simply rinse the patch to remove the residue. You can also spray the patch with a disinfectant to finish the job.

Dry bird poop
If the bird poop has dried you need to consider many factors while removing it. There could be seeds or other solid elements in the poop which can scratch the paint of the car if removed carelessly. Here's what to do:
- Detailer spray
Use detailer spray over the patch with the stain and finish the task by rinsing the patch with a sponge, cloth or hose.
- Baking soda
Baking soda is one of the top home remedies to remove all kinds of stains. Mix 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda with a drop of dish soap and hot water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution over the stained patch and let it rest for a few minutes. Rinse with a hose as scrubbing the patch may leave scratches on the paint. Clean it dry with a microfibre cloth.
- WD-40
One of the ‘big guns' for stains, rust and more. This spray can remove bird poop easily. Simply spray the patch with WD-40. Let it rest for a bit and then spray or wipe the patch clean.
- Soaked cloth with cleaning product
If the bird poop stain is small and appears easy to remove, simply soak a microfibre cloth in a cleaning product. Gently start removing the bird poop. It could also help to pour cleaning product on the poop before to loosen it.
- Unscented liquid detergent
Laundry detergent can be very useful in removing bird poop from upholstery. In case you forget to close your sunroof and some birds find a luxurious loo, you can use liquid detergent to clean up. Pour liquid detergent over the stain and let it loosen up. Later remove it with a cloth and rinse the area dry.

After thoroughly removing the bird poop you should wash your car and apply a coating of wax to the previously stained patch. This will help maintain the paint coating and will strengthen it to counter other damage. Which of these methods have you previously used to clean bird poop off your car? Which ones do you recommend?
