Bentley Motors which is the ultra-luxury car wing of the Volkswagen Group has debuted its new Mulliner Batur design which will be the basis of its latest GT line. But more importantly, it will also be the basis of its future EV models. So far Bentley has only launched cars with hybrid elements but there is no full EV. In fact, only the Benteyga SUV has the plug-in hybrid element.

But as a part of its Beyond 100 Strategy, it will be launching a new EV every year from 2025-2030 till its entire portfolio is electric. It has invested $3.4 billion to create its new EV production facility dubbed the “Dream Factory”.

“This new Bentley design DNA will shape the future range of Bentley Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), with the first to be launched in 2025,” said Bentley.

Of course, with Bentley being part of the Volkswagen group it will gain immensely from the group’s monstrous investment in sustainable carbon neutral powertrain technology. Volkswagen as a group has invested more money towards a transition towards electric powertrains and other sustainable technologies than anyone else.

“This latest announcement regarding Bentley’s Beyond 100 Plan confirms the initiation of a major transformation phase in the company’s long and illustrious history. The world is changing and we need to play our part in neutralising our environmental impact,” said Adrian Hallmark, the CEO of Bentley.

Bentley wants to be carbon neutral by 2030 and will also add 10,000 solar panels over the next two years. The dream factory will also limit water consumption, landfill waste and other harmful environmental impacts. Bentley is already moving towards electrification and expects 20 per cent of its sales to be the hybrid Benteyga and the new Flying Spur which is also a hybrid.
