Highlights

Tata unveiled its sub-compact SUV - Nexon - at the 2016 Auto Expo today. This compact SUV has been developed on the X1 platform, and has been positioned between the Zest and the Safari Storm.

The Tata Nexon shares its exterior and interior design elements, and the features with the Zica hatchback. Power for the vehicle comes from a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine, along with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission options come in the form of a five-speed manual and the F-Tronic AMT on the diesel.

The Tata Nexon is Tata's entry in the highly competitive compact SUV segment in India. Even though Tata Motors didn't announce its launch in India, we assume that the Tata Nexon launch in India will happen sometime towards the end of 2016.

Tata Nexon first made its way to India as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo, and will target cars like the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 among others.
