Highlights
- New Suzuki Hayabusa to get LED lights, new electronics & suspension
- More details of 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa to be announced on February 5
- Suzuki Hayabusa was discontinued due to new global emission regulations
The iconic Suzuki Hayabusa will be back as an updated model in 2021, and Suzuki has released a teaser video showing a glimpse of the new bike. The Hayabusa is an iconic name around the world, and in India too, it has a fairly strong fan following, made more popular by the 2004 Bollywood flick "Dhoom". When the new Bharat Stage VI (BS6) emission regulations came into force in April 2020, the Hayabusa was not updated and was taken out of production. But before that, all BS4 units of the Hayabusa in India were sold out. In Europe too, the 'Busa was discontinued due to the tightening emission regulations, but now, Suzuki seems to have decided to bring back the model, as we have seen in patent filings and reports from last year.

Suzuki has released a new teaser video which gives us a quick glance at the bike. And it's clear that this is an updated version of the legendary high-performance superbike. The short teaser video shows the twin analogue clocks of the instrument console (quite old-school cool if you ask me), but there's also a small TFT panel between the analogue dials.
The new 'Busa is expected to get multiple engine power modes, as well as a quickshifter, and it will likely get electronic suspension, as well as a comprehensive electronics suite, with an inertial measurement unit (IMU) which will power the cornering ABS and traction control system. More details of the updated Hayabusa will be revealed on February 5.

The last generation model had a 1,340 cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine which put out 197 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 155 Nm of peak torque at 7,200 rpm. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.74 seconds, and capable of hitting a top speed of 299 kmph, the Hayabusa in fact, was the fastest production motorcycles when it was first launched in 1999, with a top speed of 312 kmph. While the new model may be just an update, from the teaser video, it's certain that Suzuki has decided to retain the familiar Hayabusa styling to appeal to 'Busa fans around the world.
