Although available in higher capacity avatars internationally, the Suzuki Burgman Street scooter comes to India with a modest 125 cc powertrain, while retaining its larger dimensions. The massive body shell compared to conventional scooters commands attention with the larger front apron and tall windscreen. The scooter rides on alloy wheels, and also gets step-up style single seat.
The full-sized scooter also borrows several components from the Gixxer motorcycle series including all-LCD instrument console. The exhaust muffler also gets a unique design and stands out compared to the rest of the scooter. Other prominent features will be the LED headlamp unit, 12V charging socket, tubeless tyres, multi-function key slot and a front disc brake.
The 2018 Suzuki Burgman Street 125 shares its underpinnings with the Access 125, and the motor too is shared with the latter. The Access 125 uses a 124.3 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine tuned to produce 8.5 bhp at 6500 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5000 rpm. Power output is expected to remain the same as the Access. That said, the Burgman will be heavier than the Access, tipping the scales at 110 kg. Other mechanicals will remain the same as well including telescopic forks up front and a single-shock absorber at the rear.
The Burgman name is associated with Suzuki's flagship scooter line-up globally, and in India too the model is expected to be priced at a premium. With the popularity of 125 cc scooters currently, the Burgman Street is expected to be competitively priced under Rs. 70,000 (ex-showroom).
