It was just last week that the 2015 season of Formula One came to an end and though it might have looked like a dull season, for obvious reasons, F1 fans always look forward to the next season and well here it is.

The Formula 1 2016 Calendar is out and the fact that it's been signed off by the FIA means that it is in fact the official one. With a 21-race schedule, the event will begin with its first race on March 20, 2016 in Australia and end with Abu Dhabi on November 27.

However, there remains some uncertainty about the future of the Austin event as the FIA has penciled it as 'subject to confirmation'. The uncertainty about the event may have prompted the only tweak to the schedule agreed several months ago, with Mexico's date having been shifted from November 6 to October 30. As we'd said earlier there's a newbie in this calendar and that's Azerbaijan.

To be known as the Grand Prix of Europe, the race will be held on a street circuit around the republic's capital Baku. Located at the Asia-Europe boundary, Azerbaijan will succeed the Grand Prix of Europe title from Valencia, which was dropped from the calendar after 2012. The race in Baku is slated for June 19, however this means that it will clash with Le Mans and we won't be able to see Nico Hulkenberg defend his title, which is a shame.

Formula One still evades India and we are hopeful to see the race make a comeback by 2017. The 2015 season was a bit dreary as it was Mercedes who had the quicker car and the fight was essentially between two drivers, but this season also saw the rise of Ferrari and we hope that they get things in order and we get to see a three way fight between Mercedes, Williams and Ferrari.
