The 2022 KTM RC 200 arrives with significant updates, both in terms of design and performance. It features an aerodynamic design, updated chassis, and weight savings that make it more road and track-friendly. Despite retaining the familiar 199.5 cc liquid-cooled engine, the new RC 200 is a more complete and refined package. Priced at ₹2.09 lakh (ex-showroom), the RC 200 offers an exciting blend of performance and comfort for riders looking to push their limits.
The 2022 KTM RC 200 boasts a completely revamped design that draws inspiration from KTM's RC16 MotoGP machine. The aggressive and distinctive twin-projector headlamps of the previous model have been replaced with a flatter LED headlamp, which integrates daytime running lights (DRLs) and indicators. The windscreen is wider and the overall styling is aerodynamically efficient, designed to reduce drag and improve top speed.

The bike's new two-part fairing redirects airflow to the rider’s legs while helping deflect heat from the engine. The exposed rear subframe adds a sporty aesthetic, while the overall bodywork enhances the bike’s ground clearance, now at 158 mm. The 13.7-liter fuel tank is wider and adds to the bike’s road presence.

KTM has achieved weight savings in several areas with the new RC 200. The redesigned chassis and subframe, along with lighter five-spoke alloys and a new sprocket, help reduce the bike’s weight by about 3.3 kg. Despite the added fuel capacity, the overall kerb weight remains 160 kg, providing a good balance between weight and performance.
The 199.5 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine remains unchanged, delivering 24.6 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 19.2 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. While the power and torque figures are the same, the bike now features a larger airbox, allowing 40% more air intake, resulting in a smoother and more linear power delivery. The bike’s 6-speed gearbox offers seamless shifts, and the RC 200’s improved throttle response makes it a fun machine both in city traffic and on open roads.

Riders will appreciate the bike’s willingness to be revved, with all the power coming alive at the top end of the rev range. However, vibrations are still present at higher revs, a common trait in single-cylinder engines. The bike’s top speed is around 140-145 km/h, and the engine feels more refined than in previous generations.

The 2022 RC 200 benefits from a new, lighter chassis that enhances handling and makes the bike feel more predictable. Direction changes are swift and confidence-inspiring, thanks to the revised chassis and USD front forks from WP. The pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear helps maintain stability and comfort on uneven roads.

The bike’s 320 mm front disc brake provides strong stopping power, complemented by dual-channel ABS with Supermoto mode for added control. While the brakes perform well overall, the front lever lacks the feedback some riders might desire during hard braking
One of the biggest improvements in the 2022 RC 200 is rider comfort. The handlebars have been raised by 15 mm, making for a slightly more relaxed posture compared to the previous generation, while the Alcantara-like double-padded seat offers improved cushioning. The 835 mm seat height remains unchanged, but the narrower fuel tank makes it easier for shorter riders to place their feet on the ground.

The 2022 KTM RC 200 comes equipped with a digital LCD instrument console, carried over from the KTM 250 Adventure. It provides essential information like fuel efficiency, gear position, and ABS settings, but lacks the TFT screen seen on higher-end models like the RC 390.
The bike also features foldable rearview mirrors, improving visibility and adding a practical touch for daily commuting. Despite not having the most advanced tech features, the RC 200’s functional updates make it a more user-friendly machine
The RC 200 offers a fuel efficiency of around 30-35 kmpl, depending on riding conditions. The increased 13.7-liter fuel tank allows for fewer stops between refuels, making it a practical option for longer rides.
Priced at ₹2.09 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2022 KTM RC 200 is a value-packed offering for riders seeking a fully-faired, performance-oriented sportbike. The bike’s updated design, improved comfort, and enhanced handling make it a compelling choice for enthusiasts and young riders alike.

KTM’s widespread service network across India ensures that RC 200 owners will have easy access to maintenance and service centers. KTM bikes are known for their relatively low service costs, adding to the overall appeal of owning one.
The RC 200 faces stiff competition from models like the Yamaha R15, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. While the Yamaha R15 offers sharper handling and a more aggressive posture, the RC 200 stands out for its balance of performance, comfort, and everyday usability. The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is priced lower but lacks the premium feel and refinement of the KTM.
The 2022 KTM RC 200 is a refined and well-rounded sportbike, perfect for riders who want a machine that performs well on both the road and track. With its aggressive design, improved ergonomics, and enhanced handling, it continues to be a top choice in the 200cc performance segment. Whether you're looking for a daily commuter or a weekend track machine, the RC 200 delivers an engaging and fun riding experience.
Pros
- Improved aerodynamics with a more efficient design, reducing drag and enhancing top speed
- Lighter chassis and 3.3 kg weight reduction, providing better handling and agility
- Comfortable riding posture with raised handlebars, making it more suitable for daily commuting
Cons
- The front brake lacks aggressive bite, even with the larger 320 mm disc
- The LCD console feels outdated compared to TFT screens offered in higher variants
- The price point (Rs 2.09 lakh ex-showroom) is on the higher side for the 200cc segment
Verdict
The 2022 KTM RC 200 brings a host of updates that make it a more refined and user-friendly sports bike, perfect for both city use and occasional track days. With improved ergonomics, a lighter chassis, and better aerodynamics, it delivers a thrilling ride. However, the lack of a more aggressive braking feel and a TFT display may leave some wanting more. Despite these minor drawbacks, the RC 200 remains a well-rounded package for riders looking for an entertaining and sharp motorcycle in the 200cc class.
