What's New?
The Hero Glamour 125 is a stylish and practical commuter motorcycle that was first introduced in the Indian market in 2005. It has since undergone several updates and the latest version offers a balance of style, performance, and fuel efficiency. The Glamour 125 is powered by a 124.7cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers smooth and reliable power. It features Hero's i3S technology, which automatically shuts off the engine when idle to conserve fuel and restarts it with a simple clutch release. Hero Glamour 125
The Hero Glamour 125 was the first in the country to get fuel injection technology in 2006. The bike has gone through multiple upgrades over the years since its launch and was revamped back in 2017. The 2020 bike is quite similar but promises a better ownership experience.
The Hero Glamour 125 comes with a stylish look and feel which sets it apart from other commuter motorcycles in the 125 cc category. The design is elegant and subtle with some sporty touches. However, it does not have the road presence of a Bajaj Pulsar 125 for instance. The design is almost unchanged with a few changes for the headlight cowl and side panels. There are four colour choices and the switchgear is decent enough although the quality of the panels and finishing needed to be better.
The Hero Glamour 125 has a 124.7 cc fuel injected air cooled SOHC single cylinder engine that makes 10.87 PS and 10.6 Nm of maximum torque. This is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. While power and torque figures have reduced from the earlier version, an extra gear has now been added, which improves performance considerably. It can touch 60 kmph in 7.10 seconds. Power delivery is smooth with neat gear ratios and fast responses. The engine can take consistent speeds hovering around 60-65 kmph without any hassles. However, once you push it beyond 70 kmph, it feels hassled and going beyond 85 kmph will put it in disarray. There is more refinement although the engine note is harsh and there are still vibrations. The i3S technology functions nicely with its start-stop feature, helping save fuel.
The Hero Glamour 125 gets a new diamond frame along with the brand new twin shock absorbers and telescopic forks. The suspension comes with higher travel although they are not tuned to ensure better comfort. The bike can take potholes and bumps reasonably well although it is better if there is a pillion rider. Handling is decent and the bike offers more stability. Braking is also decent although there is poor progression/feel throughout the entire system.
The Hero Glamour 125 offers a lighter and easier riding experience with good seat height at 793 mm. It is easy to ride and handle and the riding position is comfortable enough. However, after some time, there will be discomfort due to the softer foam and raked-design for the seat. Longer distances will not be as comfortable on this bike. The seat is longer with good space overall. The grab handle is also accessible. The foot pegs are also accessible for the pillion rider.
The Hero Glamour 125 comes with the i3S start-stop technology for better fuel economy and also gets a semi-digital instrument console. There is a trip-meter, odometer, indicator for average fuel economy and fuel gauge. The blue backlight is a helpful touch. There is also AutoSail which helps the bike crawl neatly by releasing the clutch lever minus throttle inputs.
The bike offers fuel economy of 64.10 kmpl in the city and around 69.49 kmpl on the highway.
The Hero Glamour 125 offers decent value for money as a peppy and brisk 125 cc commuter motorcycle. The price point is spot-on and it offers decent handling, performance and comfort levels. The fuel economy is the talking point along with some other tweaks.
The service intervals are 500 km, 3,000 km, and 6,000 km for the bike.
The Hero Glamour 125 competes with the Honda SP 125 and the Bajaj Pulsar 125 STD. The Honda has a similar 124 cc engine and so does the Bajaj Pulsar (124.4 cc). The latter is the most powerful with 11.8 PS of power and 10.8 Nm of maximum torque. Honda offers the most torque at 10.9 Nm although it has the same power as the Hero Glamour 125, which has the lowest torque on offer.
The Hero Glamour 125 offers an eager and sporty engine for city commute and is light and maneuverable. It also offers great fuel economy with AutoSail and i3S technologies. However, the engine feels unrefined and finishing could have been better. Braking is also not up to the mark. Yet, despite its flaws, most buyers will still find it to be a value proposition in this category.
Pros
- Attractive graphics
- Refined motor
- Low maintenance
Cons
- Low peg feelers
- Low plastic quality
- Overall vibrations
Verdict
The Hero Glamour is one of the most popular 125 cc commuter motorcycles in India, owing to its low price and very good fuel consumption. As the name suggest, the Hero Glamour 125 is an attractive looking motorcycle and suits all age groups. Its refined engine and low maintenance cost are a few pros that a customer should consider while betting money on it. Where it feels a little let down is in the dynamics and engine refinement, particularly at high speeds.
