The Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 stands out with its sporty design, advanced safety features like traction control, and strong engine performance. It appeals to young riders looking for a streetfighter with modern tech and sharp handling. While it misses out on a few convenience features like turn-by-turn navigation, its combination of style, safety, and performance makes it a solid choice in its segment. For those willing to invest in a premium experience, the MT-15 V2.0 is a great pick.
The 2023 Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 is an upgraded version of Yamaha’s popular naked streetfighter. Priced at ₹1.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it now comes with new technology and features like traction control and dual-channel ABS, making it even more competitive in the 150cc segment. This update ensures that the MT-15 V2.0 stays relevant and attractive to young riders who value style, performance, and safety(Yamaha MT-15 V2.0).
The design of the Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 retains its aggressive and modern streetfighter look. The sharp LED headlamp, muscular fuel tank, and minimalist bodywork continue to give it a bold stance. The bike now also comes with LED indicators, adding to its premium feel. The upright riding posture, combined with the sculpted tank and compact tail section, makes the bike visually appealing while providing practical ergonomics.
In terms of color options, Yamaha offers the MT-15 V2.0 in fresh and vibrant schemes, making it stand out even more on the road. The overall fit and finish of the bike are top-notch, aligning with its premium pricing.
The Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 is powered by a 155 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke SOHC engine. It produces 18 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, making it one of the most powerful motorcycles in its class. The engine comes from the popular Yamaha R15 V4 but has been tuned to offer better low- and mid-range performance, which makes it well-suited for urban riding.
The addition of traction control in this model reduces the risk of wheel spin under aggressive acceleration or on slippery surfaces, giving riders more confidence when pushing the bike to its limits. The bike is also equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch, allowing for smoother gear shifts and better control.
The Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 offers an excellent balance between performance and handling, thanks to its Deltabox frame and aluminum swingarm. The bike feels agile and responsive, making it perfect for city commuting and spirited weekend rides. The dual-channel ABS adds a significant boost to safety, particularly during sudden braking scenarios.
The suspension setup includes telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, providing a balanced ride that absorbs bumps while still offering a sporty feel. The 282 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc brakes ensure confident stopping power. Paired with MRF radial tires, the bike maintains good grip and stability, even during cornering.
Despite its sporty character, the MT-15 V2.0 offers decent comfort for both the rider and pillion. The single-piece seat is well-cushioned, and the upright riding position ensures that long rides are not too tiring. The 810 mm seat height might be slightly tall for shorter riders, but overall, the ergonomics are well-suited for most riders, providing comfort without compromising on control.
The bike’s lightweight nature, with a kerb weight of just 139 kg, makes it easy to handle in city traffic and tight spaces, contributing to the overall riding experience.
The MT-15 V2.0 is packed with technology, including a fully digital LCD instrument console. The console provides essential information like speed, gear position, and fuel level, while also featuring Bluetooth connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect app. This app enables riders to receive call, SMS, and email alerts directly on the screen, adding convenience to the riding experience.
Although the tech package is robust, the MT-15 V2.0 could have benefitted from additional features like turn-by-turn navigation, which is missing in this version
One of the strong suits of the Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 is its fuel efficiency. Despite its performance-focused engine, the bike delivers an impressive mileage of around 40-45 kmpl under normal riding conditions. This makes it an economical choice for daily commuting while also being capable of more enthusiastic rides
At ₹1.68 lakh, the Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 is priced on the premium side of the 150cc segment. However, considering its advanced features, excellent performance, and strong brand appeal, it offers great value for money. The addition of traction control, dual-channel ABS, and Bluetooth connectivity sets it apart from many of its competitors, justifying the higher price tag.
Yamaha has a wide and reliable service network across India, making it easy for owners to access maintenance services and spare parts. The brand’s reputation for affordable service costs further enhances the value proposition for long-term ownership
The MT-15 V2.0 competes directly with bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer, and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. While the Pulsar NS160 and Apache RTR 160 4V offer similar performance, the MT-15 stands out for its lightweight handling, advanced technology, and premium build quality. The Suzuki Gixxer, on the other hand, is known for its smooth engine and refinement, but it lacks the tech features and aggressive styling of the MT-15.
The 2023 Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 continues to be a top contender in the 150cc segment, combining performance, technology, and style in a compact and affordable package. Its sporty design, paired with the introduction of traction control and dual-channel ABS, makes it a great option for both new riders and seasoned enthusiasts. While the price is on the higher side, the MT-15 V2.0 justifies it with a well-rounded offering that delivers both in the city and on open roads.

M happy with its overall performance
By Amit @ Sep 23, 2024 04:31 PM
5.0
I bought the Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 six months ago, and while I’m happy with its overall performance, there are a few drawbacks. The engine is responsive, and the bike is quick to accelerate. It’s great for city traffic, and the handling is excellent. However, I feel the bike could have offered a bit more comfort. The seat is a bit hard for long-distance rides. In terms of safety features, I wish there were more advanced systems in place for better rider protection. The suspension works well on smooth roads but struggles a bit on bumpy surfaces.

MT-15 V2.0 is a fantastic bike for city riding. I’ve had it for a few months now, and the engine performance is excellent. It’s quick, responsive, and handles traffic with ease. The fuel efficiency is also commendable, and I love the way it looks with its aggressive design. The bike is comfortable for short rides, and the suspension handles bumps well. It’s a great value for the price, and I haven’t had any major issues so far. Definitely worth the investment!

The maintenance cost is reasonable
By Prathmesh L @ Sep 30, 2024 12:21 PM

Using Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 for about a year now, and it’s been a mixed experience. The engine performance is excellent, especially for city rides. The bike has good pick-up, and the suspension handles bumps well. The design is sleek, and the bike stands out on the road. However, the seating isn’t the most comfortable for long rides, and the fuel efficiency could have been a bit better, especially for a bike in this segment. It’s a fun bike for daily commutes, but if you're planning on long rides, the comfort might be an issue. The maintenance cost is reasonable, but some parts feel a little pricey. Overall, it's a good choice if you want a stylish and quick city bike, but it comes with a few drawbacks for longer journeys.

The Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 is an absolute joy to ride! I’ve had it for 10 months now, and I’m loving the engine performance. It’s quick, responsive, and handles beautifully in city traffic. The suspension does a great job of absorbing bumps, and the bike feels solid on the road. The design is sleek, and it’s a real head-turner. One of the best things about this bike is its balance between power and efficiency. I’ve been geting decent fuel efficiency considering its performance. The seats are comfortable for daily rides, but I wouldn’t say they’re ideal for long distances. For what I use it for, it’s perfect!
