What's New?
Starting from household names like Access 125 and the intruder, Suzuki has a wide variety of products that are quite well-known in the industry, like the Hayabusa. Such consistency and options in the market are rare to see in this industry which is one reason why Suzuki is still one of the best automobile brands in the industry.
That said, one of the most popular bike Suzuki has now is the Gixxer 250 SF. This bike is the middle ground for the brand, bringing in all the best features from their reasonable models as well as the top models like the Hayabusa.
This fully-faired bike is the newest offering from the well-known brand of Suzuki, and this bike is surely one of their best. With a 249 CC engine, this bike can offer a maximum power output of 26.5 bhp @ 9300 rpm and a peak torque of 22.2 Nm @ 7300 rpm. These numbers are quite impressive when compared to other bikes of the same segment and give quite a punch to this bike's performance.
However, that is not it. There are many more features that you will find innovative and new in this bike when compared to its predecessor. For instance, the newly installed front and rear disc brakes, both of which come with an anti-locking system, makes this bike convenient to ride while also providing the necessary safety. With a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF weighs about 161 kg.
When it comes to the design language of this bike, Suzuki has left no stone unturned to make it feel comfortable as well as stylish. At first glance, you will see that the Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF pretty much follows the same design essence that of the Suzuki Gixxer 155, which was Suzuki’s most successful endeavour last year. It follows a smooth and soothing design with ergonomic lines all around for better aerodynamics. To further complement this sporty look, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF comes with a split-seat arrangement, footpegs that are slightly pushed back and clip-on handlebars.
In addition to that, this bike also gets a LED tail lamp and a full Led headlamp unit which really accentuates the whole design of the bike. Along with such amazing features, it also gets the latest innovations in the industry like a fully digital instrument cluster; split type grab rails for the pillion rider and a dual-barrel exhaust.
With the Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF, Suzuki has indeed justified their big brand name in the industry and now is a part of the premium quarter-litre bike segment of India. If you are looking for a new upgrade or just a bike that will satisfy your everyday usage while also being capable enough for long rides, this bike is ideal for you. Further in this article, you will gain more in-depth knowledge about every intricate detail of this bike and what makes this one of the best models in the segment as of now.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 250
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is a premier offering that has already won acclaim on several counts. How does this bike measure up? Here’s taking a closer look.
The design of the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is inspired by the company's flagship motorcycle, the GSX-R1000. The bike has a sharp and aggressive look, with a fairing that resembles that of a sports bike. The headlight is integrated into the fairing, and the taillight is shaped like an upside-down teardrop. The bike also has a digital instrument cluster, which displays all the information you need while riding.
If you loved how the last iteration of the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 looked, we have some good news for you: the new version looks exactly the same as the previous version. The other notable change is that it is now available in a brand-new colour combination known as Triton Blue/Silver, which comes at a premium of one thousand rupees over the standard price. This livery, which resembles Suzuki's MotoGP bike, was designed to honour the company's 100th anniversary in the business. The only change that has been made is this one; nothing else has been altered. A diamond cut visor, diamond cut alloys, chrome accents on the exhaust, and an LED headlamp are some of the features that come standard on this motorcycle. This is, without a doubt, an appealing design, and the SF 250 does not appear to have been in production for very long at all. Having said that, adding a pair of LED indicators and a visor that was a little bit higher would have unquestionably made the package a lot more useful. We believe that the new livery looks incredible even without any changes, and for an additional Rs. 1000/-, you are able to purchase a bike that looks really unique and distinctive.
The most significant update for the 2020 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 comes in the shape of the bike's ability to comply with BS6 standards. The engine that powers the Gixxer SF 250 is a single-cylinder unit that has a displacement of 249 cc and a single overhead camshaft. It generates 26.5 PS at 9300 rpm and 22.2 Nm of torque at 7300 rpm. In terms of performance, the sports bike with the 250cc engine can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in approximately 9.6 seconds. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 top speed is 150 kmph.
For the BS6 model, the power output has been maintained at its previous level, but the torque has decreased by 0.4 Nm, which is not a significant amount. When driven on public roads, the engine maintains its vivacious and powerful feel. The mid-range is quite robust, and the motor provides a satisfying experience at practically all of the rev range. The fuel injection (FI) works properly, and the throttle response is spot on and very snappy. However, the gearing is a little short for our liking, and as a result, we found that we were reaching the redline more frequently than we had anticipated. In terms of refinement, the bike feels refined over almost the whole rev range, with the exception of the redline. When you approach near to the redline, vibrations start coming in from almost everywhere, which makes the smoothness of the SF overall more difficult to experience. The gearbox has not been modified in any way, and it continues to be the same 6-speed unit that it was before. It has a slippery quality to it, but we didn't really experience any difficulties with it while we were running. On the other hand, the Gixxer may have been improved with several accessories, such as a slipper clutch and liquid cooling, particularly in light of the fact that it was manufactured in modern times.
There is not going to be any adjustment made to the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 in this regard. The suspension is taken care of by a pair of telescopic forks in addition to a mono-shock that is mounted to the swingarm. The rider's lower back, in particular, is subjected to a significant amount of force when going over large bumps because the setup is not particularly comfortable. However, this translates in the Gixxer having good cornering capabilities, and the front end feel on this motorcycle is also quite good. The stability in a straight line is also very good, but the short visor is not able to provide sufficient protection against the wind at greater speeds. Aside from this one drawback, the SF 250 is a respectable commuter, and its smooth riding dynamics make manoeuvring across the city a breeze.
When it comes to the brakes, the stopping strength is impressive, and a dual-channel ABS arrangement comes as standard, so drivers won't have to worry about their safety even in the most precarious of circumstances. The first bit of input is encouraging, but the brakes will require a short period of time to reach operating temperature. Even at slow speeds, the weight of the bike, which tips the scales at 161 kilograms, is not noticeable to the rider at all. Last but not least, the front tyre measures 110 sections, and the rear tyre measures 150 sections, both of which are manufactured by MRF and are identical to the ones found on the Bajaj Dominar. Overall, the Gixxer SF 250 has good riding characteristics; however, the suspension arrangement should be made cushier to provide a more comfortable ride in the city.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is categorized as a sports tourer and provides riders with ergonomics that are easy on the body. Because of the clip-on handlebars, the seating position is a little bit more forward leaning than usual, but it still manages to feel very comfortable. It has a bench with two separate seating areas, and the padding is on the firmer side. The broad pillion seat, on the other hand, provides acceptable levels of comfort for the passenger riding along. Because of its seat height of 800 millimetres, the Gixxer SF is well suited for the typical Indian rider, and its ground clearance of 165 millimeters provides sufficient space. When it comes to mirrors, they are expansive and provide a clear picture of what is located behind the person looking in them. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is an accommodating motorbike that can handle a wide variety of tasks, from those associated with commuting in the city to those associated with long-distance touring, with only a few small adjustments required for the latter.
The Gixxer SF 250 retains its completely digital instrument cluster from its predecessor and is equipped with one as standard equipment. It achieves a negative LCD, which continues to look hip even in modern times. There is not an abundance of information on display; however, it does cover approximately all of the required ones such as speed, RPM, fuel level, oil change alert, gear position, and twin-trip meters in addition to the standard telltale lights. There is a lack of information regarding things such as fuel efficiency and distance to empty, both of which are essential in today's world and may irritate some customers. The display is not very sharp and it might be difficult to read in some lighting conditions, notably direct sunlight. However, there are no complaints regarding the switchgear because it has not been altered in any way, and the pleasant plastic texture remains.
The actual mileage of the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is reported to be 38.5 kilometers per liter (kmpl), according to owners of the vehicle. It achieves better mileage than 53% of all sports bikes combined. It can accelerate from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in just 9.6 seconds while still maintaining a high level of control.
The upgraded engine in the 2023 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 gives the motorcycle improved handling while allowing it to keep its distinctive look. The bike is not only comfortable but also extremely stable, and the tires on the same have a strong grip on the road. This motorcycle is an excellent choice for commuting in the city as well as going on longer journeys due to its impressive performance and equally impressive ergonomics.
Suzuki Gixxer SF Bike was launched in India in 2015. The after sales service of the bike is one of the best in the industry. The cheapest part is the service. The Gixxer SF 250's service intervals are six months and 5,000 km. The company has a wide network of dealers and service centres across the country. The bike comes with a warranty of 2 years or 24,000 km, whichever is earlier. The customer can also avail extended warranty for up to 3 years or 36,000 km, whichever is earlier. The company offers free service for the first 1 year or 10,000 km, whichever is earlier. After that, the customer has to pay for the service charges. The company also offers roadside assistance for its customers.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is a competitive motorbike that can hold its own against other bikes in its class. On the list of competitors for the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 are the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, and the KTM RC 200.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is a sports motorcycle that can be purchased in India for a price that begins at Rs. 1, 88,725. There are two different models and two colour options to choose from. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 features an anti-locking braking system and is equipped with disc brakes in both the front and the back. The Gixxer SF 250 features a streamlined design, a full fairing, split-seats, clip-on handlebars, and foot pegs that are set slightly further back than usual. Other styling cues include a full-fairing.The hardware on the motorbike includes telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock that is affixed to the swingarm. These components are responsible for the suspension duties. The Gixxer SF 250 has alloy wheels that are 17 inches in diameter and are shod with a 110/70 section tyre in the front and a 150/60 section tyre in the rear. Both of the vehicle's wheels are equipped with disc brakes, and the safety net features dual-channel anti-lock braking systems (ABS).
When one takes into consideration the available equipment, such as the diamond-cut alloys, LED lighting, edgy style, digital instrument cluster, and ABS, the SF 250 presents an even more compelling argument. There is no doubt that it could benefit from some upgrades, such as additional information on the instrument cluster, a better suspension setup, LED indicators, a slipper clutch, and so on; however, doing any of these things would result in a price increase, which is something that we Indians do not take kindly to. Metallic Matte Black and the special MotoGP (Metallic Triton Blue) edition are the two colour options that can be selected for the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, which meets the requirements for BS6.
In addition to that, you will also receive the reassurance of purchasing a product from a well-known brand such as Suzuki, as well as their service. If you are looking for a sporty yet comfortable and stylish motorcycle that costs around Rs. 2 lakh, the Gixxer SF 250 most certainly deserves every bit of your hard-earned money. You should not think twice before making an investment in the Suzuki Gixxer250 SF.
Pros
- Comfortable riding position
- Refined and tractable engine
- Excellent ride quality
Cons
- Basic instrument cluster
- Premium pricing
- Does not thrill with performance
Verdict
In India, it will go up against the likes of the Honda CBR250R, Yamaha Fazer25 and the KTC RC200 and at a price of ₹ 1.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), we believe the Gixxer SF 250 to be a solid purchase in its segment. It looks good, has decent performance and handles quite well too. It sporty enough to be ridden around switchbacks and can handle daily commuting too with equal aplomb. It may have entered a little late to the 250 cc - 400 cc segment but it is definitely a well-rounded package.
