Highlights

It was only last year that BMW India brought in the new 7 Series, and now it is the saloon's hybrid version's turn. The German luxury car manufacturer launched the 7 Series ActiveHybrid in India for a starting price of Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car, which debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, is now BMW's first hybrid sedan in India and will be brought in the country via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route.

The BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid houses a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, in-line engine that is good for an impressive 320bhp and 450Nm of torque. The twin-turbocharged engine is coupled with an electric motor that puts out 55bhp and 210Nm of torque. As far as the transmission is concerned, a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox will supply power to the rear wheels of the car.

The 7 Series ActiveHybrid accelerates from 0-100Km/h in just 6.2 seconds and gets an electronically-limited top-speed of 250Km/h.
