Highlights

Nissan's low-cost car brand Datsun has today launched the GO hatchback at the on-going 2014 Auto Expo. The vehicle made its global debut last year in India. The GO hatchback shares its platform with the Nissan Micra.

With overall dimensions of 785mm (length), 1635mm (width) and 1485mm(height), this new hatchback looks impressive, considering the segment it belongs to. The wheelbase is measured around 2450mm which translates into ample space at the rear.

In terms of interiors, the Datsun GO hatchback has an upper hand over many of its rivals. The mobile docking point, glove box with Evalia-style opening and various other features enhance the comfort and convenience levels of the car.

The all new GO hatchback gets the same 1.2-litre petrol unit, which is found under the Nissan Micra. This powertrain churns out 65bhp with 104Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The production of the Datsun GO has already begun at the Oragadum plant, Chennai and the first cars have already rolled out. With the price tag expected below the 4 lakh mark, Datsun is all set to put a dent into the sales figures of its competitors.
