The first batch of the Kia EV6 will be limited to just 100 units and the electric crossover will arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Thankfully, this means that India will get the top-of-the-line EV6 GT Line in two variants. According to documents leaked earlier this week, the electric offering will be available with two powertrain options - Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Both variants will use the 77.4 kWh battery pack.
The Kia EV6 RWD and AWD pack different figures. The RWD variant will be powered by a single permanent magnet synchronous motor that belts out 226 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. It will also be the more efficient option with a claimed range of 528 km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge.

In contrast, the Kia EV6 AWD variant will use a dual-motor set-up - one on each axle. The combined out from both electric motors stands at 320 bhp and 605 Nm. Clearly, the AWD version will be the more fun to drive option on sale but that will also come at the cost of range, which is restricted to 425 km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge. Both the RWD and AWD have a top speed of 183 kmph. However, it's the 0-100 kmph that's starkly different for both versions with the RWD version taking 7.3 seconds, while the AWD model does it in 5.2 seconds. The high-performance EV6 GT packs 577 bhp and 740 Nm and can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and can hit a top speed of 260 kmph. It needs to be seen if this specific version will make its way to India.
The leaked brochure also suggests that the Kia EV6 will have ultra-fast charging with 10-80 per cent of the battery juiced up in just 18 minutes. However, this is with a 350 kW DC fast charger. Using a more accessible 50 kW DC fast charger will charge the battery from 10-80 per cent in about 73 minutes. While the leaked brochure does not mention it, it's likely that the automaker will offer an 11 kW AC slow charger as standard with the EV6, which can be installed at the customer's home or office. The charging time should extend to hours with the same with a full charge taking about 6-8 hours.

The Kia EV6 also will be loaded on tech and both variants are expected to pack quite a bit of equipment as standard. This will include the twin 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment unit powered and ventilated front seats, driver seat memory, dual-zone climate control, auto wipers, adaptive LED headlamps, and connected car tech, 64-colour ambient lighting and a sunroof. The AWD model will further get an augmented reality head-up display, powered tailgate, pop-out door handles and a 14-speaker Meridian sound system.
