Volkswagen's Herbert Diess Reveals How EVs Are Better Than Petrol Cars

- Diess has revealed how EVs are cheaper than petrol cars
- He posted a graph comparing VW group petrol cars with its own EVs
- The graph which was posted on LinkedIn is now deleted
In a LinkedIn post Volkswagen boss, Herbert Diess has basically spelled out how electric cars are better than their own petrol cars. He draws a fuel consumption and cost comparison with its own line of electric cars that are cheaper to use in the long run than its own petrol cars. He compared Tiguan to the ID.4 which he believed costs 30 percent more to run per kilometer. The costs went up when he compared an Audi Q5 to a Q5 e-Tron which was 40 percent more expensive per kilometer. In the case of the Skoda Kodiaq which is even sold in India, he revealed that it was 50 percent more expensive than the Enyaq.

"Driving a combustion engine car costs up to 50% more compared to an e-car. The Autozeitung does the math, taking into account all the costs: Driving a VW Tiguan costs around 30% more per kilometer than an ID.4. One kilometer in an Audi Q5 costs around 40% more compared to a Q4 e-Tron. And driving a Skoda Kodiaq is around 50% more expensive per kilometer compared to an Enyaq. It's time to switch," said the Volkswagen CEO.
Under Diess, Volkswagen has sought to reform itself after the "dieselgate" and he has pushed the entire group to make an audacious investment in electric powertrains across all brands and verticals. He also befriended Elon Musk and recently even invited the Tesla boss to share his insight with his top 200 managers.

While he posted this graph on LinkedIn, it should be noted that it has been deleted now. This also comes after Diess warned if the shift to EVs wasn't accelerated then Volkswagen could lose 30,000 jobs.
