Volkswagen has finally launched the all-new Taigun compact SUV in India, priced at Rs. 10.50 lakh to Rs. 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new SUV comes with the option of either a 1.0-litre TSI or a 1.5-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine, while transmission options include a 6-speed manual along with a 6-speed torque converter and 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Based on the two engines, Volkswagen offers the SUV in two main options - Dynamic line and Performance Line, powered with the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engines, respectively. While the former comes with three variants - Comfortline, Highline and Topline, the latter offers two trim choices - GT and GT Plus.

Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 Comfortline

The entry-level Comfortline variant of the SUV comes with the 1.0-litre TSI motor with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. In terms of exterior features, it gets - Upper Chrome strip on the grille, silver front diffuser, halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, black roof rails, side cladding, body-coloured ORVMs with LED indicators, and body-coloured door handles. The SUV also comes with 16-inch steel wheels with full cover, infinity LED taillights and a rear silver diffuser. Inside, the Comfortline trim offers - dual-tone interior, 3D decor section on the dashboard, rear AC vents, fabric seat upholstery, dead pedal, front sliding centre armrest with storage box, and ambient light pack with LEDs for door panel switches, front and rear reading lamps.

The base variant also comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 6 speakers, Bluetooth/FM/USB, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a 12V plug. The SUV also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel with audio and call control, adjustable headrests and electrically adjustable ORVMs. In terms of safety features the car gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ESC, multi-collision breaks, disc brake wiping function, brake assist, and electronic differential locks. The Volkswagen Taigun also offers - 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, seatbelt reminder, high-speed alert, engine immobiliser, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, remote central locking, and manual dimming interior rearview mirror.

Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 Highline

The Highlight variant also gets the 1.0-litre TSI motor with a 6-speed manual gearbox, but it also comes with an optional 6-speed AT, and the latter gets paddle shifters as well. Adding over the features of the Comfortline trim, the Highline variant gets silver roof rails, front foglamps, and 16-inch 'Belmonte' Alloy wheels on the outside. Inside the cabin, the SUV comes with Amur Grey Satin and Glossy Black decor inserts, chrome bezels for air-con vents, split 60:40 foldable rear seats, rear centre armrest with cup holders, and white ambient lights in the dashboard. The cabin also gets a Smart touch Climatronic AC and a cooled glovebox.

The SUV also comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apps, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger, shark-fin antenna, valet mode, and 2 USB chargers each at front and back. The system also offers MyVolkswagen Connect with a bunch of connected car features like - Live tracking, Geo fence, Time fence, Driving behaviour, SOS emergency call, Safety alerts, Trip analysis, and Documents due date reminder. In terms of safety features, it gets Hill-start assist (AT Only), rear camera, Height adjustable driver seat, auto up/down driver window, rear defogger, and rear wiper and washer.

Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 Topline

The top-spec variant of the Dynamic Line trim gets the same engine and transmission choices as the Highline variant, but it also gets cruise control. In addition to the offerings of the Highline trim, the SUV also gets features like - 3D Chrome step grille, LED Headlamps with LED DRL, Auto Headlights Chrome applique on door handles, Chrome garnish on window bottom line, and 17-inch 'Cassino' Alloy wheels. Inside, the Taigun gets Rave Glossy and Trama Pattern decor inserts, Leather + Leatherette seat upholstery, Auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, push-button start-stop, Ventilated front seats with leather inserts, and electric sunroof. The cabin also gets an 8-inch fully digital instrument cluster. In terms of safety features, the SUV gets 6 airbags, Hill-start assist, Tyre Pressure monitoring system, Rain and Light sensor and Auto coming/leaving home lights.

The top-end Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus trim gets 17-inch 'Manila' Alloy wheels.with red callipers and dual-ton treatment

Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 GT

The GT variant of the Taigun comes with the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The features have been carried over from the Highline variant and in addition to those the GT trim also gets styling elements like - GT badge on grille and boot, and Chrome plaquette on the front fender with GT branding. The cabin comes with Amur Grey or Dark Red Glossy and Carbon Pattern decor inserts, Leatherette + Fabric seat upholstery, and Ambient light pack: LEDs for door panel switches, front and rear reading lamps.

Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 GT Plus

The GT Plus variant of the Taigun also gets the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine but it's mated to a 7-speed DSG as standard. In addition to the features offered with the Topline trim and the GT variant, the range-topping GT Plus option comes with add-on features like - red front brake callipers, a dual-tone exterior with the roof painted in Carbon Steel Grey, aluminium pedals, and 17-inch 'Manila' Alloy wheels.
