Royal Enfield has reported overall sales of 59,160 motorcycles in February 2022, recording a 15 per cent decline against sales of 69,659 motorcycles in the same month a year ago. According to the company, supply chain constraints due to the shortage of semiconductor chips continued to persist during the month, and Royal Enfield is working with its supplier ecosystem to resolve the same. Royal Enfield's international sales continued its upward trajectory with the company posting a growth of 55% in exports YoY, with exports of 7,025 units in February 2022.

Royal Enfield's sales in the domestic market declined 20 per cent year-on-year. But month-on-month, domestic market sales seem to be on an upswing.

While domestic market sales declined 20 per cent year-on-year to 53,135 units in February 2022, compared to sales of 65,114 motorcycled in the same month a year ago, the company continued its recovery in the domestic market and posted an improvement over January 2022. In January 2022, Royal Enfield had sold 49,726 motorcycles in the domestic market. Exports in January 2022, however, were stronger with the company reporting its highest-ever monthly exports of 9,112 units.

Royal Enfield's sales in overseas markets continue to grow. In February 2022, exports accounted for just over 7,000 units, recording 55 per cent growth year-on-year.

In the April 2021 to February 2022 period, Royal Enfield reported a massive 102 per cent increase in overseas sales, up from 32,737 motorcycles a year ago, to 71,832 motorcycles in the period under review. Domestic market sales in the same period fell 10 per cent from 513,555 in the April 2020 to February 2021 period, to 462,759 motorcycles in the April 2021 to February 2022 period. Overall, Royal Enfield's combined sales remained flat in the period.

While overseas markets continue to remain a focus area, as Royal Enfield expands its product line-up to newer geographies. The new Classic 350 has been launched in the Philippines, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, following launches in India and Thailand in 2021. Royal Enfield is also getting ready to launch the new Royal Enfield Scram 411, an urban-focussed version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which will be launched in India in March 2022, followed by launches in overseas markets in the months ahead.
