Two-Wheeler Sales December 2021: Hero MotoCorp Registers Decline Of Nearly 12%

Hero MotoCorp sold nearly 3.9 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters in December 2021, compared to more than 4.7 lakh units in the same month a year ago.

Hero MotoCorp has announced monthly sales figures for the month of December 2021. India's leading two-wheeler manufacturer by volume reported overall sales of 394,733 units, which is a decline of 11.7 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) against 447,335 units sold in the same month a year ago. Compared to 349,393 units sold in November 2021, Hero MotoCorp has registered a Month-on-Month (M-o-M) growth of 13 per cent. For the third quarter (October-December) of FY22, the company's total volumes stood at 12,92,136 units.

The two-wheeler manufacturer also posted its highest-ever global sales across Asia, Africa South and Central America and the Caribbean in the calendar year 2021. Hero sold 2.89 lakh units of two-wheelers in the CY2021, clocking a growth of 71 per cent against 1.69 lakh units sold in the calendar year 2020.

Hero MotoCorp also registered the highest-ever sales in the global markets in CY2021

Sanjay Bhan, Head - Global Business, Hero MotoCorp, said "Our new strategy of R4 - Recalibrate, Revitalize, Revolutionize, Revive - has already started yielding results for us. The volumes in our global markets in the calendar year 2021 is in line with our plans, keeping in mind the constraints in global logistics and supply chain on account of the prevailing Covid19 pandemic. We are well on track to meet our target of garnering 15% of the company's total volumes from our global business by 2025."

Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to unveil its first electric vehicle (EV) in March this year. It will be produced at the company's manufacturing facility at Chittoor in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. In the press statement, the company also said that it continues to monitor the on-ground situation, although localized restrictions imposed by certain states in the wake of rising Omicron cases will continue to restrict the customer movement.
