Triumph Motorcycles has released a teaser video featuring four time World Superbike champion Carl Fogerty and two-time Isle of Man TT winner Gary Johnson in what seems to be the upcoming new Triumph Speed Triple. The two racers are seen revving the engines and doing burn-outs on two streetfighters in the video. The bikes aren't clearly visible, but the silhouette of the bikes does look uncannily similar to the Triumph Speed Triple. The video ends with the text "A new champion will rise" at 8 am on January 29. And that's when the new Speed Triple is expected to be unveiled, ahead of a press launch.

There're a lot of new things expected in the new Speed Triple, including updated suspension and some changes in the engine as well. What is visible in the teaser video is clearly a new, full-colour TFT instrument panel, possibly similar to the one on the Triumph Street Triple RS, and partly visible are new five-spoke alloy wheels and re-designed exhaust canisters. The video also uses phrases like "the greatest ever", the "most agile", "the smartest" , "the most aggressive" and "the most powerful". So, expect a bump in performance from the current model's 138 bhp output. Like in the video, two variants of the new Speed Triple are expected, possibly with different suspension and electronics.

The Triumph Speed Triple received an update globally in 2016, with a more powerful 1050 cc three-cylinder engine, ride-by-wire with five riding modes, switchable traction control and ABS. In India, the 2011 Speed Triple has been on sale which doesn't get the 2016 updates. So, now, after updating the modern classic range in the Bonneville series, the Tiger, and the Street Triple, now it seems finally the Speed Triple will get a much-needed upgrade. In India, Triumph is expected to launch four updated models in 2018, starting with the Tiger 1200, the Bonneville Speedmaster, the new Tiger 800 and the 2018 Speed Triple.
