Triumph says that the Bobber is a premium factory custom motorcycle which is a tribute to the American Bobber motorcycles of the '30s. And what a looker it is! Triumph says that the Bobber is a premium factory custom motorcycle which is a tribute to the American Bobber motorcycles of the '30s. In essence, it is a Bonneville T120 which was given a new chassis, new suspension units, a single pan seat, wide handlebars and those immaculate Bobber-esque styling cues, which make this motorcycle so good looking. The attention to detail is impeccable, with the rear wheel getting a hub which makes you feel as if there is a drum brake unit inside. Triumph has also worked hard on giving a hard-tail (no rear suspension) look to the motorcycle as well by designing a new cage-type swingarm having bobbin mounts and a monoshock, which is completely hidden. The seat height can be adjusted according to the comfort of the rider and so can the rails on which it is mounted. Triumph says the motorcycle will have only one-seat, keeping true to the tradition of Bobbers.

In a clever move, Triumph has kept all the electrical components well-hidden so as to keep the motorcycle as clean and classic as possible. Some of the other beautiful design elements on the Bonneville Bobber are the bronze engine badges, sprocket cover and authentic battery box with a metallic strap.

The engine on the Bonneville Bobber is the same as the one on the Bonneville T120, which is a 1,200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin motor that produces 80bhp and 105Nm of torque. But there is one major difference though. The motorcycle gets a new dual air-filter which enables the engine to produce more torque and power lower down the rev band. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission unit and the Bonneville Bobber gets ride-by-wire along with all the electronics akin to the Bonneville T120 such as different riding modes, traction control and ABS. The Bonneville Bobber rides on Avon Cobra tyres, specially developed for the Bobber itself.

The exhaust is again different from the Bonneville T120 with shorter, brushed stainless steel pea-shooter silencers. Triumph says the stock exhausts itself are an aural delight but one can get the bike fitted with Vance and Hines exhausts. Triumph will also offer 150 customisation options for the Bonneville Bobber.

There has been no official announcement from Triumph India about bringing the Bonneville Bobber to India, but we are guessing that it will come to our country sometime next year. It will be priced at a premium of course, when compared to the Bonneville T120.
