Highlights

Tesla has shown off a solar trailer in Germany where it even has its third gigafactory. Tesla already makes solar panels for homes but it hasn’t ever dabbled in putting solar panels on its cars like Lightyear. At the IdeenExpo in Hannover, it showcased the add on which could be presumably added to the Cybertruck when it launches next year.

It was seen at the Tesla stand but the world’s most valuable automaker didn’t bother to explain what its purpose was. This trailer also includes Starlink which is a satellite based broadband technology propelled by LEO satellites created by SpaceX which is Elon Musk’s other multi billion dollar venture.

The trailer is basically a cocktail of starlink connectivity and a Tesla Model Y battery in the 4680 cell format. This is not out of the blue as Elon Musk had revealed that it could make something like this for the Cybertruck when the car was first unveiled before the pandemic. He had stated that fold out panels could add 64 km of range per day.
