Royal Enfield Scrambler Custom Unveiled

- Built by Jakarta-based Thrive Motorcycle
- Moltar is a build commissioned by Royal Enfield Indonesia
- Stripped down look keeping the Royal Enfield DNA intact
Thrive Motorcycle, a Jakarta-based custom motorcycle shop has unveiled what is a scrambler custom based on the Royal Enfield 350. Called the "Moltar" the Royal Enfield Scrambler build was commissioned by Royal Enfield Indonesia themselves with an open brief and a two-month turnaround time. The engine remains the same unit, the 350 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled unit, and the Thrive builders kept the overall design as authentic Royal Enfield as possible. The result is a finely finished, stripped-back Scrambler example.

"The main goal was to turn the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 into a scrambler-style tactical vehicle - one that is sleek and functional, and can be ridden on all surfaces," said Putra Agung from Thrive. The Royal Enfield Scrambler was built by Indra Pratama and Barata Dwiputra from Thrive.

The design strategy was to keep the Bullet 350's DNA intact, focussing on refining the stock bits, rather than a complete change-over from the ground-up. The stock fuel tank has been reworked to make it smaller than before, giving it a dose of abundant chrome. The Royal Enfield's trademark side boxes have been made smaller, and the right side gets a custom cover which wraps around the stainless steel, side and high-mounted exhaust.

The rear sub-frame has been completely changed, but the swingarm has been retained. The bike gets a new pair of YSS shocks and Shinko off-road tyres on the 19-inch front/18-inch rear wheel combination. The high front fender and the skid plate add to the off-road looks of the bike. In all, the Thrive Royal Enfield Scrambler looks absolutely stunning, and is the near-perfect example of a true factory custom.

The scrambler build is a one-off project, and we aren't sure if there are any plans of introducing an actual factory custom from Royal Enfield HQ. But the proof of concept is here, and we're hoping the designers at Royal Enfield now build on something like this for the market, more specifically for the Indian market. Now, that would be interesting indeed!
