Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 Spotted
Highlights
- New Royal Enfield test bike sports parallel-twin engine
- Expected to be RE Continental GT 750
- New engine expected to make around 50 bhp
The upcoming Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 has been spotted testing once again, in Chennai. A BikesMedia correspondent has clicked some clear pictures of the bike in Chennai, which show the all-new parallel-twin engine with throttle bodies, twin-pod instrument console and other details. The upcoming bike is expected to be powered by an all-new 750 cc parallel-twin engine, and will be the company's flagship product once launched. So far, details have been sketchy about the upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycle's launch, but from the looks of this test bike, it seems the new 750 cc bike is nearing production.
What is unique is the new engine - a parallel-twin motor with around 750 cc displacement and fed with fuel injection. The new engine will be oil-cooled with the small-ish radiator placed at the front of the engine on the double-cradle chassis. The new engine is expected to make around 45-50 bhp of power and from the looks, the new bike does seem to be an extension of the Royal Enfield Continental GT family, closely resembling the current 535 cc Royal Enfield café racer. The 750 cc Royal Enfield has been spotted testing earlier as well.
The chassis also seems to have the same design as the Continental GT, designed by Harris Performance, but the one on the 750 will be wider to accommodate the twin-cylinder mill, and the sub frame is extended as well. Other features include a twin-pod, part-analogue, part-digital instrument console with a small digital screen just below the speedometer. The bike sports a "clubman" handlebar with a wide triple tree with matte silver, aluminium finish.
Other changes from the 535 cc Royal Enfield Continental GT include a pair of dual exhausts (one from each cylinder) and the final drive chain and sprockets placed on the left side. So far, there's no news on a launch timeline of the new bike, but from the looks of these latest images, it seems Royal Enfield is on a testing-spree of the new bike ahead of its launch. The pictures seen here seem to be of an advanced prototype, indicating that Royal Enfield is preparing to launch its most-ambitious product in recent times.
