You can use a painter's knife to carefully remove the moulding surrounding the windshield. Exercise caution while performing this step as you'll be using the same moulding for the replacement glass as well.
Remove the Gasket and Adhesive
The new windshield needs to be resting on a pair of carpet-covered saw horses. Moreover, you'll also require a padded barrier between the wood and the glass to avoid damage and scratching.
You need to peel off the rubber gasket from the channel and keep it aside. Once you remove the gasket, you can remove the existing adhesive.
A scraper blade does a perfect job of removing the residual adhesive. Ensure you scrape it clean to avoid trouble while reinstalling the new windshield.
