Range Rover Sport launched

Land Rovers second-generation Range Rover Sport arrives in India. The car combines the best of the engineering and spaciousness of a full-size Range Rover with the sportiness of a light weighted mini SUV. It is available in two versions: 3.0-litre diesel V6 and 5.0-litre supercharged petrol V8.

Highlights

It's finally here! Land Rover has launched the second-generation Range Rover Sport in India. Even though it looks more like the Evoque now, it most importantly shares the suspension and transmission parts and key components of its aluminium monocoque chassis with the full-size Range Rover.

It is longer and wider than the outgoing car but it weighs 420kgs less. The rear overhang is markedly shorter than before and the redesigned cabin offers both more rear-seat knee room and space for an optional pair of electrically powered, foldable, child-friendly seats forming a third row, making this a '52' SUV for the first time.

The new Range Rover Sport comes with two engine options - a 3.0-litre diesel V6 and a 5.0-litre supercharged petrol V8. Both engines come mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Range Rover Sport is priced at Rs 1.09 crore for the 3.0-litre V6 diesel and Rs 1.65 crore for the top-end 5.0-litre SC petrol Autobiography variant. (Both prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).
