Porsche and BMW Reveal Their Apps For the Apple Watch
Highlights
Let's start with BMW. It's called the BMW i Remote App and it allows users to keep a check on the status of their cars - the i3 and i8. There is a glance screen where information like; the charge level of the batteries and how far it will go, are available to see. It will also be able to show you if your car door is locked or not.
Beside all this, the app will also be able to alert you once the battery is fully charged and will allow the consumers to gain access to the climate control system and even change the settings remotely. Another option that the watch provides is that of navigation and if you're the kinds to park his/her car in a parking lot; and forget where it is, the directions on your watch will lead you to it.
The Porsche Car Connect app works in a similar way and it will allow users to lock the vehicle remotely. The person can also check whether windows, doors and sunroof are closed. There is also the option of activating the horn and lights which will help if it's dark and you need to find your car. For those owning a plug-in hybrid Porsche, the app will show you the charge time required and will notify you once the car is fully charged.
The app is a great example of things to come. The automotive and digital world are coming together and creating a platform which helps in easy transfer of information.
