Porsche 918 Spyder Inducted into the Dubai Police Fleet

The Dubai police have now added a new car to its fleet and they've gone green on this one because they've decided to go the hybrid way. For those thinking about the Prius, well let us remind you, this is the Dubai police fleet we're talking about and it does things a little extravagantly which is why the hybrid, they've chosen is the Porsche 918 Spyder.

Highlights

As we all know, the police fleet owned by the Dubai and the Abu Dhabi police force is the most enviable of collections across the globe and that's because it is. The list already boasts of names like the Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin One-77, Bentley Continental, Mercedes-Benz SLS, the mighty Bugatti Veyron, BMW M6 Gran Coupe, Chevrolet Camaro, Ferrari FF, a Roush-modified Ford Mustang; need we say more.

The Spyder is powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.6 litre V8 engine which is capable of developing 608bhp. What makes it hybrid is the two electric motors which deliver an additional 279 horsepower taking the tally to a massive 887bhp.

    Porsche 918 Spyder

The 918 Spyder's 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack delivers an all-electric range of a mere 19 km. Top speed of the car has been rated at 340 km/h. The 918 Spyder is the most expensive Porsche money can buy and is one of the most exclusive of cars as only 918 units of the car have been made. Production of the car ended in June 2015 and all the models have already been sold.

Of course, none of these vehicles are actually used for real police work. They're on display for but they're clearly cars that will make you weak in the knees. The Porsche 918 Spyder sees rivals in the form of the Ferrari La Ferrari and the McLaren P1, so can we expect these cars to soon make it to the fleet as well? We sure hope so!
