Hyundai, the South Korean automaker, has announced that it has sold over 2 million units of the i10 globally. The vehicle made its global debut in India in 2007 and even after the new-gen model, Grand i10 in India, entered the market,  the old model is on sale in India.

Out of the total units sold to date, India alone accounts for almost 1.89 million. The i10 came as a replacement for the Hyundai Atos which is also known as the Santro. While the Santro was already popular in the Indian market, the i10 with better looks, modern interior and fuel efficient engine range soon became yet another top-seller of the country. As a matter of fact, despite being an old-gen model Hyundai still sells about 2500-300 units of the car in India.

The second-geneation model of the i10, known as the Grand i10, was launched in August 2013, and then the company started producing it for the European market in Turkey. The new-gen model is about 80mm longer, 50mm shorter and 65mm wider than the outgoing model. The vehicle's boot space too increased by 10 per cent at 252-litres.
