Moto Guzzi Announces V85 Concept

- Moto Guzzi V85 is an adventure motorcycle concept
- Powered by a new 850 cc v-twin engine
- The new engine is expected to power a range of Guzzi bikes
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Moto Guzzi announced a new adventure bike concept at the EICMA show in Milan earlier this month. The Moto Guzzi V85 concept is a completely all-new motorcycle and will be the first time in several years the Italian company will venture into the adventure motorcycle segment. The V85 is a retro-looking bike with mixture of classic and modern styling cues. It's powered by an all-new 850 cc v-twin engine which is said to make around 80 bhp of maximum power.

The Italian company will position the Moto Guzzi V85 as a 'Classic Enduro' machine with design inspired by the historic Moto Guzzi bikes which took part in the rally raids in Africa. Underlining its 'adventure' credentials, the V85 has a tall, off-road style front mudguard, twin headlights and a 1980s inspired paint scheme. The V85 also gets a tubular steel frame, and a tall, purposeful stance with wire-spoke wheels and bash plate. The swingarm is also new and power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a shaft drive.

The V85 also gets top-spec suspension, including Ohlins front forks and an Ohlins monoshock. So far, Moto Guzzi hasn't divulged any plans of a production model, but the new 850 cc v-twin engine is expected to spawn a range of new Guzzi bikes which will fall between the V7, V9 and 1400 cc cruisers from the Italian company.
