Minor Updates for the Land Rover Discovery Sport
Highlights
- The 2017 Discovery Sport gets minor technological updates
- The Tile app helps you to keep a track of your belongings
- Three new safety systems also added to the 2017 model of the car
Although it has been just more than a year since the Discovery Sport was launched, Land Rover has already started giving small updates to the same. While there are no mechanical updates and the powertrain remains the same as well, Land Rover has tried to make life easier for customers with some conveniences added to the Disco Sport.
The first and foremost among these is a smart app called Tile's advance tracking. What it allows you to do is attach a small Bluetooth tracker chip to personal articles such as wallets, bags and so on so that you do not forget them in the car or misplace them. Pretty cool we must say. Once you initiate the app, it lets the passengers know whether the article is inside the car or not. If not, it can even display the directions on the screen to the last known location of the article. Basically, you do not have to worry about misplacing or forgetting things, not in the Discovery Sport at least. JLR is the first ever manufacturer to offer such a service to the customers. The Tile app is compatible with both Apple and Android platforms.
The next update is the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. The car now gets a 10.2in touchscreen tablet embedded in the dashboard, which does away with the need of actual buttons to control various functions of the car. The USP is the 60GB solid state drive (a hard drive) and an Intel Quad-Core processor. The Disco Sport is definitely a high tech car now.
Also, Land Rover has put in three new safety systems, namely the Driver Control Monitor, the Intelligent Speed Monitor and a Lane Keep Assist. As the names suggest, the driver control monitor keeps a check on driver fatigue and sends out visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness. The intelligent speed limiter makes use of traffic sign recognition feature and detects the speed limit in the area, the system will prompt the driver to slow down or do it automatically after the driver responds to the prompt. Lastly, the lane keep assist makes use of a forward facing camera to keep an eye on the lane markings. If the car veers off its lane, the vehicle will slowly come back in its lane, all by itself.
The 2017 model of the Discovery Sport also gets new body colour options and an optional graphite package as well.
