MG Motor is gearing up to introduce a brand-new flagship sedan in its range and the company has dropped its second teaser revealing some of its design elements. The sleek fastback body design of the MG 7 will surely remind you of European four-door coupes and then there are some familiar family looks, building up on the MG 6 design. And speaking of the MG 6, the MG 7 will be positioned above the MG 6 in its home market, and we don't have any confirmation from the brand of its India launch yet.
Now the company hasn't revealed any details or specifications of the MG 7 yet but expect it to be exceed the 4.7 metre footprint of the MG 6. In fact, it is likely to be around 4.9 metre in length going by the segment MG is eyeing with the MG 7. Now few details of the MG 7 have surfaced online giving us a slight idea of the engine options. The MG 7 is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre, turbo petrol engine and there are no talks of any electric iteration of the vehicle as of now. In fact, the design sketches reveal a very conventional and classic fastback design with four exhaust tips at the rear. That said, we expect the MG 7 to be offered with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant as well and with multiple engine options including a 1.5-litre motor coupled with a mild capacity lithium-ion battery pack.
In terms of design, teaser images suggest an active rear spoiler on the tailgate - possibly with extendable outer sections. Black badges feature as well indicating that it could form part of a new line of 'Black Label' cars. The MG 7 name was last used from 2007 to 2013, on a re-branded version of the related MG ZT and Rover 75 - twinned mid-size sedans that served as some of the final models offered by the original MG Rover group.
