Mercedes-Benz GLS Launch: Highlights

As mentioned earlier the SUV has been launched in India as a facelift to the older GL-Class as the company's new flagship SUV. The new Mercedes-Benz GLS comes with a some considerable cosmetic updates and mechanical changes that we extensively spoke about in our review. The most prominent change to the SUV's exterior profile has been made to its front section. The new GLS now comes with a muscular bonnet and a new double silver slats grille with a large three-pointed star logo at the centre. The headlights have been redesigned and now feature Mercedes-Benz's signature Multi-Beam lamps along with LED daytime running lights. The new brawny front bumper now houses a couple of larger air intakes and a massive bulbar-like chrome slat that adds to the SUV's aggressive stance. The side profile of the new Mercedes-Benz GLS largely remains unchanged whereas the rear section of the SUV features new LED tail lamps, revised details and a new rear bumper as well.
The cabin comes in a 7-seater configuration and has been extensively redesigned to go with the claim of being the S-Class of SUVs. The new premium upholstery are well designed and come draped in high-grade Nappa leather. The same material has been used to wrap the three-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel. The restyled dashboard now gets a new 8-inch stick-out touchscreen infotainment display with a touch pad on the centre console for easy access.
The SUV is high on safety as well, as the new Msaercedes-Benz GLS offers host of safety feature that includes - collision prevention assist, crosswind assist, attention assist, Pre-Safe, Brake Assist, cruise control, ESP and electronic AWD traction system with 4ETS.
