Maruti Suzuki Hikes Car Prices In India By Up To Rs. 17,000

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) today said it has increased prices of its models by up to Rs 17,000 in order to partially offset rise in input costs. The new prices are effective from 10th January 2018.

Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car manufacturer, today announced prices across its model range in India. The company says that prices of its models will be hiked in the range of Rs. 1,700 to Rs. 17,000, on the ex-showroom, Delhi price of the cars. Maruti Suzuki said that they had to increase the car price " owing to increase in commodity and other administrative and distribution costs." The new prices will be effective from today, January 10, 2018. Maruti Suzuki India's current model range starts with the hatchback Alto 800 to its premium crossover S-Cross, priced between Rs 2.45 lakh and Rs 11.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Like most of the other Indian car manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki India has announced its decision to increase car priced back in December 2017. While prices of Maruti Suzuki's entire model range has gone up by up to Rs. 17,000, the company's largest selling model, Maruti Suzuki Alto's price has been increased in the range of Rs. 3,400 to Rs. 5,400 depending on the variant you choose. As for the company's popular tall-boy hatchback, Wagon-R and the compact hatch Celerio, both the cars have received a price hike of up to Rs. 4,400. The company's premium tall-boy hatch from its Nexa brand - the Ignis has also received a price hike in the range of Rs. 3,800 to Rs. 10,200, while its premium hatchback car Baleno's prices have been increased in the range of Rs. 1,700 to Rs. 9,000, depending on the variant. At the same time, the carmaker's top-selling SUV, the Vitara Brezza has now become dearer by up to Rs. 4,000.

Maruti is not the first car manufacturer to increase car prices this month. Most of the other carmakers like Hyundai India, Isuzu Motors, Skoda and Tata Motors have also announced price hikes of their respective cars across their model range from early this month. On the other hand, carmakers like - Honda Cars India, Mahindra and Mahindra are expected to increase prices in next couple of weeks.
