- The XUV500 still offers some good features and a powerful diesel engine

The Mahindra XUV500 has been one of the most popular 7-seaters SUVs in India. Over the years the SUV has created a niche for itself, and kind of a cult following. What was once the flagship SUV in the home-grown automaker's line-up will soon be replaced by the all-new Mahindra XUV700 later this year. However, if you are among those who are planning to get one of the last XUV500s before the SUV is discontinued, then here are some of the key highlights of the SUV that you must know.

The XUV500 came with what Mahindra called the Cheetah-inspired design, and some of those visual elements are still retained. Like the black tear duct design for the foglamps, massive grille, large projector headlamps, paw-like door handles sporty dual-tone alloys and large taillamps.

The Mahindra XUV500's cabin is largely treated in black, with silver accents, and several glossy black bits. The SUV also comes with large seats upholstered in tan faux leather. It gets a power-adjustable driver seat, electric sunroof, auto-climate control, multi-function steering, and adjustable headrest for all occupants.

In terms of features, the SUV gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, AUX-IN, and Bluetooth connectivity, along with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Mahindra EcoSense App. The design of the centre console is certainly dated, and the SUV also gets an analogue twin-pod instrument cluster.

The XUV500 is powered by the tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine is tuned to make 153 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission. But it no longer gets All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) option.

The Mahindra XUV500 is offered in 7 variants - W5, W7, W9, W11 (O), W7 AT, W9 AT, W11 (O) AT. The SUV is priced between Rs. 14.15 lakh to about Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Mahindra is also offering great discounts on the XUV500 right now.
