Lexus Cars To Chauffeur VIP Guests At Kempegowda International Airport

To make the arrival and departure of VIP guests at Bengaluru airport extra comfortable, the Kempegowda International Airport added three Lexus cars to its airport fleet, ferrying them between the boarding gate and the aircraft. Lexus India is providing the Lexus LX, Lexus NX, and Lexus RX to the Kempegowda International Airport and handed over the keys to Jayaraj Shanmugam, CEO, Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL). The Lexus LX is the flagship SUV for the luxury carmaker and costs Rs. 2.32 crore, while the Lexus NX compact SUV, and Lexus RX mid-sized SUV costs Rs. 69.50 lakh and Rs. 1.11 crore respectively (ex-showroom).

Speaking of the Lexus cars, the Lexus LX450d employs a 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine tuned for 261 bhp and 650 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive offered as standard. For an SUV that weighs well over 3.3 tonnes, Lexus says that the LX450d can make the 0-100 kmph sprint in 8.1 seconds. The top speed is limited to 210 kmph. Interestingly, the LX450d is the only non-hybrid vehicle in Lexus India's current range. The Lexus NX 300h is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor that churns out a combined power of 194 bhp. The powertrain is mated to an electronically controlled CVT unit. The SUV can run on individual power sources as well as a combination of both electric and petrol.

The Lexus RX stands as a competition to the Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid. It is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 VVT-i petrol engine that comes paired with an electric motor and belts out a combined output of 308 bhp and develops a peak torque of 335 Nm. The transmission options are handled by an E-CVT automatic gearbox and 0-100 kmph is achieved in about 7.7 seconds.
