Lamborghini Reveals New Huracan GT3 EVO2 Race Car
Highlights
- New GT3 EVO2 design based on the Huracan STO
- Gets upgraded aero and engine upgrades over the older GT3 EVO
- Will make its race debut at the 2023 Daytona 24 Hours
Lamborghini Squadra Corse – the company's motorsports arm – has revealed a new Huracan GT3 EVO2 race car. Based on the road-going Huracan STO, the new GT3 racer benefits from improved aerodynamics, tweaks to the mechanicals and enhanced safety to meet FIA's 2022 regulations. The links to the STO are clear in the design with the twin vents on the bonnet helping to vent out air and improve downforce, the air scoop atop the engine cover and the large rear wing. The GT3 EVO2 though has a more aggressive look courtesy of its wider bodywork and massive splitter up front and rear diffuser. Lamborghini says the revised bodywork and aerodynamics have helped to increase downforce over the GT3 EVO.
The air scoop atop the engine cover houses the air intake for the engine which was previously located on the sides. Lamborghini says the STO-derived rear deck cover and rear fin help improve the car's balance while also contributing to a more efficient air intake system. In typical fashion, Lamborghini says that the EVO2 features carbon fibre body panels to make the car lighter.

Inside the cabin, the GT3 EVO2 gets a redesigned roll cage with new carbon-kevlar honeycomb side panels and new rear pillars designed to offer greater protection in case of a side impact. The plexiglass side windows are also fixed in place and attached to the doors via a ring of screws – a design the company says improves structural rigidity.
On the mechanical front, the Huracan's V10 engine gets individual electrically actuated throttle bodies for each cylinder. The system has been designed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, features titanium valves and is bolted to the engine via four screws to facilitate easier maintenance. The brakes too have been upgraded with new callipers and pads.
