Superhero movies and exotic cars have always gone hand in hand. Right from Batman's custom Bat Mobile to Tony Stark's swanky Audi R8, it is clear that be it DC or Marvel Universe, our favourite vigilantes, crime fighters, and saviours of the world like to roll in style. That brings us the latest offering from Marvel Studios - Doctor Strange, which will be releasing this Friday. And in this movie ours truly Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch will be seen driving the Italian raging bull - Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4. In fact, much recently, Lamborghini joined the Marvel Studios in Los Angeles as the co-title sponsor at the World Premiere of "Doctor Strange."
The awe-inspiring Huracan coupe is featured during a key turning point in the movie's plot, driven by the film's main character, Dr Stephen Strange, The Sorcerer Supreme. Apparently, Doctor Strange is a wealthy and successful neurosurgeon who is also possibly a car aficionado, given his choice of machine. In the movie, Strange loses the use of his hands in a car crash and who, in his quest to regain their function, gains the mystical powers that make him a superhero. The crash is, therefore, a key plot point.
In a statement released by the Italian supercar marque, Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Automobili Lamborghini said, "Lamborghini was unquestionably the perfect fit for this project as the Huracan naturally unleashes one's inner Super Hero. The unique story of this new kind of hero mirrors that of the raging bull's visionary founder Ferruccio Lamborghini; a man capable of creating cars that induce dreams in those who see them and thrills in those who drive them." Associating the character personality with the car, Domenicali said, "Much like many Lamborghini owners, Doctor Strange is a bold, ambitious and pioneering character who reaches beyond the realm of the ordinary and thrives in any situation, despite the challenges ahead."
Coming to the car itself, the Huracan is one of the most popular cars to be built by Lamborghini. The car replaced another one of Lamborghini's popular car - the Gallardo. The Huracan is powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that is capable of churning out a maximum of 610bhp and develops 560Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed LDF dual-clutch transmission with shift characteristics variable via Drive Select Mode that propels this car to 100km/h from standstill in just 3.2-seconds.
