Lamborghini has produced a unique and special specimen of Huracan RWD that it donated to His Holiness Pope Francis in the presence of the company's top executives. The car will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's on May 12, 2018, with the proceeds delivered directly to the Holy Father, who decided to allocate them to the Pontifical Foundation 'Aid to the Church in Need', the Pope John XXIII Community, GICAM headed by Dr. Marco Lanzetta (hand surgeon) and Friends of Central Africa. The cost of this customised Huracan RWD is said to be close to $210,730 (Rs. 1.37 crore).

The Lamborghini Huracan RWD donated to the Pope was produced by Ad Personam, the company's customization department. It is painted Bianco Monocerus (white) with Giallo Tiberino (yellow) stripes that run along the body in homage to the colours of the flag of Vatican City.

The ceremony of presentation to Pope Francis was held in the Vatican, attended by Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. Also present were a delegation of the company's management board and two of the technicians who worked on building the car.

The Huracan is the successor of the famous Gallardo, Lamborghini's best-selling model ever. The Huracan comes with a 5.2-litre V10 engine that is capable of producing 593 BHP and 559 NM of torque. It is also capable of doing 0-100kmph in just 3.2 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 320kmph.

However, this is not the first time that the Pope has received a gift from the motoring world. In 2014, Harley-Davidson gifted the Pope (FLSTC 103ci Heritage Softail Classic) a motorcycle which fetched close to $286,816 (Rs. 1.87 crore)
