Kia EV6: A Look At The Dimensions

Kia's set to enter the Indian electric vehicle market with its purpose-built EV6 in the coming months. A sister model to Hyundai Ioniq 5, the EV6 sits on Hyundai's e-GMP platform offering a choice of battery packs and front or all-wheel drive layouts across a choice of variants. Kia India opens the order books for its sleek and futuristic EV on May 26 though only a limited number will be available in the first batch. However, that aside the EV6 does hold some promise with a range of up to 425km per charge and going by the dimensions a spacious cabin too.

In terms of size, the EV6's size could be compared to SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner. The EV6 is just about 100mm shorter in length and lower owing to its sleek low-slung looks though it trumps the three-row Toyota in terms of wheelbase owing to its packaging. With India set to get the GT-Line model initially let's look at the dimensions for that specific variant first.

The EV6 measures 4695 mm long and has a 2900 mm wheelbase which suggest plenty of space within the cabin.

In terms of size, the GT-Line measures at 4695 mm long, 1890 mm wide and 1550 mm tall. The wheelbase meanwhile is a notable 2900 mm – just 50 mm shorter than what you would get in the three-row MG Gloster. These dimensions mean that the EV6 should offer a spacious cabin to say the least given that it's only a five-seater. Kia also claims good space for luggage with a 520-litre boot expandable to 1300 litres with the rear seat folded and 20 litres (52 litres in the rear-wheel-drive models) of additional space in the frunk.

Globally the EV6 is available in three distinct lines – the regular EV6, the GT-Line talked about above and the GT. Compared to the GT Line the regular EV6 is 15 mm shorter in length and 10 mm narrower. The more powerful EV6 GT meanwhile is near identical to the GT-Line in terms of size but sits 5 mm lower.

Compared to other EV's on sale, the EV6 is notably larger than the Mini Electric, the model that is expected to be the closest in terms of pricing. Moving to the higher price brackets, the EV6 has similar dimensions to that of Mercedes' EQC and the Jaguar I-Pace. Mercedes' electric SUV measures 4762 mm long, 1884 mm wide and 1624 mm tall. The Jaguar meanwhile is 4682 mm long, 2011 mm wide and 1566 mm tall. The EQC sits on a 2837 mm wheelbase while the I-Pace's is a notably longer 2990 mm. Both luxury EV though have prices that start north of Rs. 1 crore while the EV6 is expected to be positioned a little above the Rs 50 lakh mark.
