India Will Be A Leader In EVs - Anand Mahindra Tweets
Highlights
Electric vehicles are all the rage all over the world, with new technologies spawning - what feels like - every day in different parts of the world. While there are a long list of offerings in the EV space globally, the list is relatively small in India, and the models on sale aren't exactly affordable either. This has prompted a handful number of individuals to convert their existing cars to have an electric powertrain, and one such individual is A. Gowtham.
Gowtham, an engineering graduate, has electrified an old jeep. According to him, the electric jeep can travel a distance of upto 280 km on a single charge. Not just that, but the jeep is 4-wheel drive, and power can be sent to the front or the rear wheels on demand while driving, with individual controls to operate the axles. All of that costed him just Rs. 2.80 lakh.
Applauding his innovation, Chairman of the Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra tweeted, “This is why I'm convinced India will be a leader in EVs. I believe America gained dominance in autos because of people's passion for cars & technology & their innovation through garage 'tinkering.' May Gowtham & his 'tribe' flourish.”
