Guy Martin And Triumph Are All Set For The Land Speed Record Attempt
Highlights
- Triumph aims to break the record in the Infor Rocket Streamliner
- Triumph will have to over past the current record of 606.69 km/h
- Guy Martin will attempt the land speed record in the Triumph
Earlier, we had reported that Guy Martin, accomplished TT motorcycle racer and a truck mechanic, set a record for the fastest land speed for a Triumph motorcycle ever when he touched a ballistic 441 km/h. That was actually one of the practice runs for the main event where Guy will be attempting to break the land speed record of 606.8 km/h in the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner. While the exact specifics are not clear but the Rocket Streamliner displaces 2,790cc and belts out around 1,000bhp. The body is 25 feet long and is made of carbon fibre and Kevlar Streamliner in order to keep the weight to a minimum.
After the successful practice runs, the entire team of Triumph had to clean the attempt vehicle inside out, to rid of it of the sand particles, which they did four times over in order to be absolutely sure. Then, there was the maintenance check, which included servicing and visual checks. The engine oil and air filters too were changed and the afterwards, the motorcycle was taken for dyno tests and power simulations.
The tyres for the Land Speed Record attempt too, have been changed although the manufacturer is still Goodyear. After this, the motorcycle will be sent to a specialist testing facility where there will be tests to weed out any problems or anomalies.
With the right weather conditions, Guy Martin will be attempting to break the current record of 606.8 km/h over a 17.8km long course. The Triumph team believes that the weather conditions will be absolutely perfect over the next few days, which is extremely critical for rider and the machine as well. Keep watching this space as we will bring you all the action once the attempt is made. Till then, we wish Guy Martin and Triumph the very best of luck and hope that they emerge triumphant out of this.
