GM to Introduce Semi-Autonomous Driving System Soon
General Motors CEO Mary Barra revealed that Cadillac will launch their Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system on its all-new 2017 model. For those who didn't know, the company has been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism lately after the major recalls.
The company, however, is working towards the future and the Super Cruise system is one such endeavour to regain lost ground. So what is this technology all about?
The Super Cruise system uses a series of cameras and sensors to drive the car automatically. The system will offer customers a new type of driving experience that includes hands-off lane following, braking and speed control in certain highway driving conditions.
Barra also mentioned that the 2017 Cadillac CTS will come with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology that allows vehicles to send and receive information about their speed, location and direction of travel. This information is then used to warn drivers about potential collisions ahead of time.
Barra said, "A tide of innovation has invigorated the global auto industry, and we are taking these giant leaps forward to remain a leader of new technology."
