- The Levante Ermenegildo Zegna showcases a new silk fabric in the cockpit
Maserati debuted special edition versions of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Sport at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the 3500 GT - the very first GT car that segmented the market in 1957. The Italian luxury carmaker also showcased its Levante SUV with the new conceptual Ermenegildo Zegna 100 per cent silk fabric in the cockpit.
The first Maserati Grand Touring production car, the 3500 GT, was created in 1957 and also made its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. Maserati went on to sell over 2200 units of the 3500 GT in both coupe and cabrio versions. Celebrating one of Maserati's most iconic cars, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Special Editions get the New Rosso Italiano three-layer paint for the exteriors, a reinterpretation of Juan Manuel Fangio's Maserati 250F. Fangio, a five time Formula 1 world champion, won his 1957 title in the 250F. Furthermore, the special edition Maserati models also receive MC-design 20" alloy wheels with a new Glossy Black finish that matches the Special Edition logo wheel centre caps.
Inside, the models get Poltrona Frau leather or leather/Alcantara upholstery and new interior stitching in four different combinations, door sills in carbon fibre featuring the Special Edition logo and the dedicated plate on the central tunnel with a carbon fibre holder. The production run of the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio Sport special editions will be limited to 400 units.
The Levante Ermenegildo Zegna show car features a new silk fabric developed by E. Zegna atelier specially for Maserati. The 'Chevron' beige silk fabric is combined with full premium beige leather on the front and rear seats.
Additionally, the same fabric with a 'Natte' pattern, is used on the door panels, while a 'Jersey' pattern adorns the roof lining and sun visors. The beige cabin also receives a full premium black leather covering the upper part of the dashboard.
